About

Hello, I’m a 40 something and amongst other things, I’m a Domestic Abuse Survivor. I’ve started this blog as a place to home the articles I write on the subject.

I don’t think you will find many people who would condone Domestic Abuse and Violence, but the irony is when you try and raise awareness or speak out about your experiences – some people in your life will shut down, from people in your local community to some friends and family.

The reasons for this are complex, but essentially if we don’t raise awareness in our local communities then how are we going to make a Change That Lasts.

I am a supportor and advocate for Women’s Aid, and Change That Lasts is their call to arms, and aims to help women and children reach safety, freedom and independence.

For me, I am personally interested in the ASK ME element of the scheme, which is a community based response, which includes raising awareness, providing signposting for support and helping local communities to believe survivors and not to tolerate domestic abuse or violence.

For me ASK ME is not just about women, it is for men too who have also experienced or currently experience domestic abuse and violence.

Some people reading this blog may think I am brave or stupid – but this blog isn’t really about me, it’s about you, your mother, father, grandparents, brother, sister, neice, nephew and friend – someone you know will be experiencing domestic abuse or violence – we need to know the signs, we need to act sensitively and we need find our voice and speak up.

Help me make a stand, let’s bring about Change That Lasts in our local communities. xx
